OGD Scopy (Endoscopy)

An endoscopy test is primarily done to examine and detect any abnormalities in the upper gastrointestinal area. Mainly, our upper gastrointestinal region includes the first part of our digestive system including the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum (the first part of the small intestine). The test can also be called Esophagogastroduodenoscopy or EGD.

The endoscopy test is a non-invasive procedure to examine the upper gastrointestinal region. It is an effective tool to detect ulcers, tumors, inflammation, infection, or abnormal bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract and following other symptoms.

  • Heartburn (irritation of the esophagus)
  • Pain in the upper abdomen
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding (bleeding in the internal tract such as the Peptic ulcer).
  • Issues in swallowing
  • Upset digestive system
  • Unexplained chest pain or breathing problems
  • High temperature
  • Dark-colored stool
  • Choked food pipe

Endoscopy GI also helps in determining internal inflammation, tumors, or cancerous tissues. It is a helpful tool for the removal of polyps (abnormal growth) or collecting samples for biopsies.
